Food prepared for the members.About the Venue.

We were last at the Carmyllie Hall for our annual Barbeque last year on Sunday 20th July 2008.  Their was a donation made of 100 rolls & burgers donated to the BBQ from Ian Lamont who is the son in law of one of our Montrose members namely Mrs Sinclair.

Ian phoned Anne & Terry a while ago to tell them the MacPhie's of Glenbervie Ltd would supply them with 100 rolls & burgers free of charge.

The company who supplied us with this donation were  MacPhie’s of Glenbervie Ltd, Stonehaven, Kincardineshire, AB39 3YG.

Thanks very much they were very much appreciated we used them all up no problem at all with over 100 attending and they were all delicious.

Left to right Lynne Morrison, (Clr Donald Morrison's wife), Donald Morrison (SNP) for Ward 7 East & Lunan, Mike Weir MP Angus, Mike is the SNP Westminster Spokesperson for Trade and Industry, Energy and the Environment. Brian Robson Chair Angus Branch M/S Society, Andrew Welsh (SNP) MSP Andrew was elected to the Scottish Parliament in May 1999 and was re-elected in May 2003 and May 2007, but he has been active in local and national politics since the 1970s., Councillor Sheena Welsh, (SNP) Ward 7 Arbroath East & Lunan, Anne Weir (Clr Mike Weir's wife) and finaly Marion Dye MS Society Scotland. How did it go?

The BBQ went very well we had lots more than normally at a rough guess we must have between 130 - 140 at this event, this was due to the fact that we had a lot of dignitaries there, There was MSP Andrew Welsh (SNP) and his wife councillor Sheena Welsh (SNP) there was also Mike Weir (SNP) MP for Angus and his wife Anne Weir and there was also Councillor Donald Morrison (SNP) and his wife Lynne Morrison and lots of guests from other outlying MS branches, we also had a group as guests from the Threeway Fundraiser who came along with Wilma White who give us lots of support in fundraising (they also gave us a hand today).

Members from Glenrothes Branch in Fife. The guests we had in attendance were from the MS Society from Fife (Glenrothes) & Dundee.  Marion Dye from the MS Society Scotland was also there giving us a hand she is presently working on the (MFI moving forward initiative) this is where all the branches are trying to pull a lot of resources together to enable better things for each and other which is a bit of a learning process for all the branches.

The day went well, all the committee all had their tasks to carry out and were very very busy, Most of us were there early preparing things Terry Villas & Ronnie Ferguson did all the cooking outside and never halted all day until they had cleaned up and put it all away again, then there was all the chairs & tables to be put out and then put away again at the end of the day.

Terry Villas doing the cookingThe ladies did not halt all day either dishing out the tea & food and doing all the washing up etc.  (Remember a lot of the committee have MS as well) and there is a lot of work in organising it all and carrying it through to the end.  Then once everyone has left and everything has been tidied up and put back again leaving the hall in the same way as we found it, only then we can all go home again and start to reflect on how the day went.

Members from Glenrothes Branch in Fife.

We feel everyone enjoyed themselves but the B.B.Q is a lot different to going to somewhere to be served to, where ideally there should have been more of the committee mixing with our members but we did not have enough resources to do this at the BBQ, so just a few of the committee did this due to it being so busy but we will try to catch up at the rest of our events.  Most of our members know each other and probably are happy enough to chat amongst themselves in the meantime.

Members from the Dundee Branch. We feel it was a success and would like a BIG VOTE of thanks go to Sarah Villis & her lovely gorgeous daughter Emmalee who set up the main food tables & various juices & also served the beautiful sweets that were made by Ina McBeath, and a huge thanks to Emmalee for helping us with the huge raffle.  We would also thank everyone else for their input be it from the members just coming and turning up (after all without them then it just would not happen) to the drivers of the buses and anyone else who contributed to it all including the raffle.

Committee Members Ron Ferguson, Brian Robson and Brian Scally.

Raffle.

The raffle today was "Massive".

This is our fifth raffle for this year and the raffle was excellent and it made a grand total of £467.00p

That brings the total for the raffles this year to £1,378.00p.

Jean and Anne have ran the raffle for years now, and it is well established now so thanks go to Jean and Anne, also everyone who brings in donations which are then used for prizes for the raffle.

The raffle is a joint effort by everyone who bring in donations, or even members who just simply buy the raffle tickets to take part.  This helps to offset the running costs of the event.
