At the beginning of July, 1961, Brigadier J.A. Oliver and Mrs Oliver hosted a garden party at their home, West Newton, for members of the Dundee and Angus branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. A company of over 100 attended and were entertained by John and Bill Ramsey, Arbirlot, on piano accordian, Dave McKenzie, of the British Legion played bagpipe selections.
